I am using Windows 7, 64 bit system with this monitor. The information regarding the correct setup for Forte Manager is as follows: 1. HDMI and DVI cannot both be plugged into this monitor at the same time.
Use DVI shielded cables (quality) ones for your hookup. Get rid of the VGA cables it comes with altogether. Use of the DVI cables will allow Forte Manager to work best. For Forte Manager settings, Use compatibility for Vista Service Pack 2.
Go to LG's support site and make sure you have the 3.18 version of Forte Manager installed (before installing, be sure to uninstall any previous Forte Manager software versions altogether) 6. Install 3.18 version here:. 7. After the new installation (ensure settings are correct), then RESTART the computer, and Forte Manager should work just fine. Good monitor, but I had to work a long time to figure this all out myself. Product was delivered and it was what LG technicians called a DOA unit.
Dead on arrival. It cost me 5 hours in time messing around and trying to get the monitor to work. LG tech support sucked. They had me jumping through hoops. Then passed me to another tech, who said he needed to look into this more and he'd get back to me in a few days. What the &$%^??? Bottom line, I had to box up the monitor and ship it to LG.
A month later, the jerks at LG never informed me that it has arrived. I guess they thought I'd forget about it. They promised me either to fix my DOA monitor or they would send me a monitor that was as good or better.
So I waited, and waited. 3 months later, they tell me they don't have any monitors. So now after 3 months of working from my laptop, the rodeo clowns at LG say they are going to refund my money. I asked, 'why didn't you just tell me that 3 months ago so that I could get another monitor.' Incompetents and they don't have any regard for customers. I am very please with the monitor. Big and bright.
Easy to hook up, with the correct cables (bought seperately). Only a single problem. Never did figure out how to work the internal monitor color adjustment controls.
The user manual was poorly written for this action, or worse misleading, for the adjustment steps. I never got a response back from LG customer service, but I was able to adjust the color to 93% of my satisfaction criteria via my computer display controls. Again, I still consider the monitor to be great. I purchased an LG W2753V monitor in, 2009 and it worked for over a year. Early the next year it started to have overheating issues.
When my computer went into sleep mode, the monitor would not come up until it cooled off. In May, I spoke with LG customer service. I had had enough, and while I spoke with a rep named Angel, it took 4 or 5 minutes for the monitor to respond after he instructed me to turn it off using the monitor switch (which refused to work most of the time). LG was supposed to send me UPS labels. After a week, I spoke with Ed or Ted Seiler and with Pedro on 03 June. The labels did not come and I had to take the monitor to the LG facility near the airport in my car in early June. I explained the symptoms to the supervisor who met me at the door (Wendy).

After a few days, I called and was told the monitor was not ready, but I would be notified. I was not notified. I called and asked to speak with the president of LG Electronics personally on 09 June. We spoke of giving proper customer service. I was told the monitor was already on UPS out for delivery, but only after he transferred me to the repair department.
The man I spoke with said the monitor had been fixed but could not say what the repairs were. I rushed home and UPS came shortly afterwards.
The monitor came in an old beat up box, not the new box I had taken it to LG with. After it was connected, the monitor again exhibited the exact same symptoms. The only way I could get it to work was to never let my computer go to sleep. I switched monitors and computers.
On another computer the LG monitor would not come up after it got warmed up. That computer's monitor on my computer worked just fine.
As an engineer, I did this process of elimination to isolate the problem. The problem is the LG monitor, not my computer. Thursday the 8th of Sept., I got home from work and used my computer for perhaps 40 minutes, from slightly after 5 till 5:45. The LG monitor is on a surge protector, which I shut down to go out.
After two and a half hours, when I got back home, the monitor would not come up. It finally came up around 10:15 that night. In other words, it took the LG monitor four and a half hours before it would work!!!
Since LG had been so nonresponsive before, I wrote to Soo Moong Kim, the president, on September 10, 2011 demanding action while the monitor was 'under warranty' and got no response. Many other people have complained about the lack of service from LG. I will NEVER buy another LG product. Wow!This monitor puts all my previous monitors to shame, a 22',24' I had. Well my last monitor was my first monitor with a HDMI port for full 1080p hook up but that monitor, jeez. Bad color, angles so bad the screen looked poor, if I leaned back in my chair sat on bed, if i wasn't looking straight at it forget about it,it was dark!, my 1st monitor jus was really poor quality compared to this LG. Now about the LG well, here are my uses, 1) As extension screen for my laptop 2) My secondary screen for my PLAYSTATION 3.
Let me say my laptop has a 17' screen, the LG 27' it jus dawfs it! I dont even open my laptop any more at home, it stays on an connected to the LG. My games looked great! 1080p ROCKS on this LG as far as the PS3 games go.(HDMI or nothing) Angles good! Good,(considering this is no $1500-$2200+TX IPS screen), I mean its hard for me to get in a spot where the screen looks dark, I say good job LG on that. Now excessive heat ok, we all know LCD screens get hot/warm, now do I think this one gets more hot than usual uhmm.
I would say yeah you can fell heat coming off of it on a cold night so it is what it is, as far as heat. Cant Bragg here, monitor adjustments no height adjustment jus tilt back an forward but not that much, I really wish it had wall mountable screw holes,it doesn't have vesa wall mount screw holes on the back so that sucks, that's how my last monitor was hooked up on the wall, frees up sooo much desk space that way. Uh-mm as far as movies, BLU-ray. Well colors looked good, dark colors not so good its not the best at watching HI-DEF but it gets the job done. Dimensions: 27' wide screen perfect, height 19' good, now the depth, I wish someone would have mention this WOW! Lets say its not light on its foot about 1'-2.5' I would say.If your looking more for style not function an want something really flat to hang on a wall for desk space, this is not the monitor for you its beefy!
But if you want a large screen great for PS3 or (XBOX360 HDMI)GAMES an for an laptop extension or a really nice desktop screen this is it! (WHY USE AS A SECONDARY PS3 SCREEN YOU SAY? WELL LETS SAY NOT EVERYONE WANTS TO WATCH ME PLAY THE PS3 ON MY SAMSUNG50). I bought this monitor to replace a Westinghouse of a similar size that was a bargain over a year ago, but it was not that great and was only really a upgrade for someone used to playing on small monitors.
I wasn't sure what to expect with this one after my previous experience, but it has worked perfectly so far. Its a high end monitor when it comes to what it can do. 50,000:1 and a 2ms response time are great numbers. If you are a gamer this monitor is one of the best you can get without purchasing a expensive 30' monitor.
Games and videos look great and the details on this monitor are far better than I have had on any other monitor in the past. I have mine hooked up using the cable out of the box which is fine for me, but it does not come with any other cables or connections if you are looking to hook this up another way. The one issue I have seen is related to Windows 7. The drivers out of the box are only for XP and Vista so some people have had problems with the software that comes with the monitor not working and getting to resolutions of 1920x1200. I couldn't at first either so I downloaded the Fortemanager software directly from the LG website, restarted the compuer, went to the control panel options to change my resolution, hit advanced settings, and my screen just switched right to the highest resolution. I haven't had any trouble since, but from what I read online others have not received great responses from LG about getting upgraded Windows 7 drivers.
